The D & S in DS Designs

Caroline Doughty and Priscilla Schwarzenbach began DS Designs in 2002 with a single line of textiles from Sweden.  We were drawn to the Ekelund* line because of its design, quality and value.

As reps for Ekelund, we traveled to stores throughout New England.  We saw a lot of different types of stores – always, after a visit, we’d talk about what we liked and what we didn’t.

Probably from the very first road trip the idea of a store of our own was in the back of our minds.  We'd exhibit at trade shows and find all sorts of neat accessories – not only for the home but also for US! 

But what to do with it all?  Priscilla has a background in retail and Caroline in sales --  both are accomplished shoppers -- opening a store seemed the logical answer.  So staying true to the "design, quality and value" theme that Ekelund had inspired, we  started our shopping spree.  It hasn't stopped.
